it is the tradition in our Kingdom that a Champion should receive a custom scroll at the end of their term. I had practiced gilding several times and taken several classes on it before I finally (under the direction of Master Renart de Berwyck) managed to perfect the technique enough to complete this projects.
Inspired by folio 28 of the Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta, my favorite source of inspiration, I was intimidated by the small size of the original so I chose to do my piece at one and a half times the size.
With a finished size of about 6″ tall, it still isn’t a large piece.
